Montgomery, Butler, Hamilton in top 10 counties for OVI arrests

DAYTON — Three southwest Ohio counties — Butler, Hamilton and Montgomery — ranked among the top 10 for drunken or drug-impaired driving during the first 11 months of 2009, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

In a news release Friday, Dec. 18, the patrol said Butler County ranked second in the state with 1,992 arrests by state troopers for operating a vehicle while impaired.

Montgomery County, home to Dayton, ranked sixth with 1,442 similar arrests, and Hamilton County ranked ninth with 1,139 arrests.

The top county for OVI arrests by state troopers was Franklin County with 3,080 apprehensions, the patrol said.

The other counties in the top 10 are Lucas, Stark, Lorain, Mahoning, Portage and Trumball.

The patrol said through November, state troopers made 22,925 OVI arrests throughout Ohio.
