Anderson was traveling westbound, Aller said, when the vehicle in front of him slowed to turn left. Anderson, who was driving a Chevy Silverado pickup, swerved to the left, Aller said, to avoid the car in front.
He hit then a vehicle traveling eastbound head-on, troopers said. The driver of the eastbound vehicle, Steven Bucholtz of New Carlisle, was killed in the crash.

There was no indication that impaired or distracted driving caused the crash, Aller said.
Anderson will be sentenced on Aug. 8. He faces a maximum fine of $750, 90 days in jail and a suspended license for two years, according to court documents.
Bucholtz was a part-time captain with the Harveysburg Police Department. He was on his way home from work when the crash happened, the Springfield News-Sun previously reported.
The fatal crash was one of 10 in Clark County in 2015, Aller said, up from four in 2014. In 2016, there have been six fatal crashes in the county.

“It’s still early in the summer so I’m cautiously optimistic,” Aller said, that fatal crashes will be down from last year.
“We work the road every day as hard as we can,” he said, “trying to prevent fatal crashes, serious injury crashes.”
