Man dies in tree cutting accident

A Springfield man was killed Sunday, April 18, while cutting down a tree in Jackson, Ohio, southwest of Chillicothe.

James Fry, 41, was using a chain saw to cut down a tree behind Kessinger School Road in Jackson when the tree fell on him, according to the Jackson Times-Journal.

Fry, a father of five, was an avid outdoorsman and was employed by Mader Electric, his obituary states.

He is survived by his parents, Edwin and Donna Fry of South Vienna; daughters, Dakota, Raechel and Madisyn; sons, Seth and Shane; sister Patty Whitley of Colorado Springs and fiancee Sarah Quick. His sister, Lisa Fitzsimmons, preceded him in death.

Services are being arranged by Conroy Funeral Home.
