Plow collides with city school bus

A privately owned snowplow rear-ended a Springfield City school bus just before 9 a.m. Tuesday at Clifton Avenue and Liberty Street.

No children were on the bus. The driver and aide, as well as the plow driver, reported no injuries, according to a police report.

The plow driver was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control.

Candidates certified by Clark board of elections

The Clark County Board of Elections certified several candidates for the May 3 ballot.

All three candidates for city commission — incumbent Kevin O’Neill and challengers Ebony Speakes and Richard Spangler — had at least 250 valid signatures on their petitions. The three will face a primary on May 3 to narrow the race to two candidates for the November election.

Mayor Warren Copeland also submitted enough valid signatures in his bid for re-election.

He is unopposed, so he will be on the November ballot.

‘Raku Portraits’ on public display

“Raku Portraits by Bruce Grimes” will be on display in Interface Creative Group’s Rotating Gallery in the Springfield Center for the Arts at Wittenberg University, 107 Cliff Park Road, through Feb. 25. A reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The display is free to the public.

YMCA Zumbathon set for Saturday

Zumba instructors from the Springfield Family YMCA will host a Valentine’s Red Carpet Zumbathon from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the YMCA, 300 S. Limestone St., Springfield.

The event will be held in the big gym.

The cost is $10. Proceeds will be used for new equipment for the aerobics room.

The event is open to the public.
