Project Woman’s Empowerment Gala will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Springfield Courtyard by Marriott. It will feature dinner, a silent auction and guest speaker Yvette Cade, who made national headlines in 2005 after she was lit on fire by her husband at her place of employment. JA Fearless 5K set for Oct. 15
Junior Achievement will hold its Fearless 5K race through Veterans Park and Ferncliff Cemetery at dusk on Oct. 15. Registration will begin at 4:30 p.m.
The Children’s Boo Run will begin at 5:15 p.m. and the 5K will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Cost for 5K is $20 per runner or $50 for a family of four. Boo Run is free without a T-shirt or $10 with a T-shirt. Each child entered in the Boo Run will receive a pumpkin. Each 5K runner/walker who submits their registration form by Oct. 1 will receive a T-shirt.
The race will start at Veterans Park, 107 Cliff Park Road, wind through Ferncliff Cemetery, and end back at Veterans Park.
A costume contest and awards ceremony will follow the run.
All proceeds from the event will support Junior Achievement programs in schools in Clark, Champaign, Logan and Madison counties.

Lioness Club plans spaghetti dinner
The Northridge Lioness Club is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Lions Den, 4590 Derr Road.
Meals will be served by members of the Kenton Ridge High School Leo Club.
The cost is $7, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and $1 for children younger than 6 years old.

A card-making and open scrapbooking crop will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 3 at the NTPRD Administration Building, 1301 Mitchell Blvd.
The card-making class will include instruction and supplies to make four to five card projects. The fee for card-making is $12 and preregistration is required. Space is limited.
