Clark County residents can recycle as many as four scrap tires free of charge and an additional six tires for $1 each at a tire recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 19 at the Clark County Recycling Center, 1602 W. Main St. in Springfield.
The Clark County Waste Management District is sponsoring the event to celebrate America Recycles Day, an annual observance of the importance of recycling.
The tire collection is for Clark County residents only. No business or farm tires will be accepted.
No more than 10 tires will be accepted from each customer.
The Clark County Recycling Center regularly accepts scrap tires for a fee of 10 cents a pound from 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of the month.

Charity auction slated for Monday
A holiday charity raffle will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Champions Center, 4122 Laybourne Road.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. The event is open to the public with a $2 admission fee. Attendees will also need to purchase plastic quarters at the event to bid on items.
The event is sponsored by V.F.W Rocco-Welch Post 8673 and local vendors. Proceeds will benefit the St. Vincent de Paul charity. Anyone bringing canned goods will receive raffle tickets for a special drawing.

How to apply for Toys for Tots
The 2011 Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots applications for assistance will be accepted from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 15-17 and Dec. 6 and from 3 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7 at VFW Post 1031, 1237 E. Main St.
All Bethel Twp. applications will be accepted from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, basement back entrance, 220 S. Main St., New Carlisle. Applications will also be accepted from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays and noon to 2 p.m. Fridays, through Dec. 2 at the church.
Applicants must be a resident of Clark County and have custody of children. Bring identification for everyone in the household and proof of address.
