Eric Barga, a Kenton Ridge High School student, was recently selected by WDPR 88.1 FM, “Voice of the Arts” Classical Public Radio Station, as one of six winners in its annual Young Talent Search Competition.
Barga is the first wind musician from his high school ever recognized through the Young Talent Search Competition.
The principal bassoonist in the Springfield Symphony Youth Orchestra, Barga was recently selected to participate in the Springfield Youth Symphony’s Project Protégé, a program that offers outstanding Youth Symphony musicians the opportunity to perform with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra on select concerts throughout the SSO season.
Barga performed “Carmina Burana” with the SSO during its April 2012 concert.

Tecumseh wins theater awards
The DayTonys, the local high school Tony awards for stage productions, was held at Sinclair Community College on June 16.
Tecumseh High School earned a combined 14 DayTonys for its fall play “Arsenic & Old Lace” and spring musical “The Boy Friend.”
Awards included:
• Natalie Wilson earned an Award of Excellence for performance in a leading role in “Arsenic & Old Lace” and “The Boy Friend.” Wilson also earned an Award of Merit for dance choreography for “The Boy Friend.”
• Angie Greene, Tecumseh Middle School teacher, earned an award of Excellence for marketing and red carpet night for “The Boy Friend.”
• Sydney Back earned an Award of Merit for performance in a leading role in “Arsenic & Old Lace” and “The Boy Friend.”
• Dallas Pritt received an Award of Merit for performance in a leading role in “Arsenic & Old Lace” and “The Boy Friend.” Pritt also earned an Award of Merit for dance choreography for “The Boy Friend.”
• Alison Eisentrager earned an Award of Merit for a leading role in “The Boy Friend.”
• Chelsea Hammond earned an Award of Merit for performance in a supporting role in “The Boy Friend.” Hammond also earned an Award of Merit for dance choreography for “The Boy Friend.”
• Niky Nathan, choreographer and recent graduate of Wright State, earned an Award of Merit for dance choreography for “The Boy Friend.”
