The pair attended a casting call in West Carrolton and ended up competing with 75 other associates from Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati. Of those 75, 15 were selected to participate in the commercials.
Filming took place in mid-February at the Mill Run Donatos location in Columbus. The commercials began hitting the airwaves April 5. A link to an online version is available on the Donatos website.
“Everybody had their own little part,” Alexander explained. “People talked about dough, pepperoni or sausage, the cheese that we use.”
Mills and Alexander said one of the most important aspect of their part in the shoot was an enthusiastic delivery of the line “The difference is delicious!”
Alexander and Mills have had positive reactions from family and friends.
Mills, whose photo is featured prominently on the Donatos website, said that he gets a reaction when friends or family go to the site to order pizza.
“My family thinks a lot of it (the commercials), especially my grandmother,” said Mills. “She says, “My grandbaby’s on TV!”
Alexander is the general manager at the North Limestone Donatos and has been with the company for 11 years. As a busy mother of two young children, Alexander is glad she made time for this event.
“It was an experience,” Alexander said. “It was definitely worth it.”
A junior at Springfield High School, Mills has worked for Donatos since October. After graduation, he plans to attend Prairie View College in Pine Island, Texas.
