Kingsfield out at WDTN Channel 2

Michelle Kingsfield, a longtime Dayton television news anchor, has parted ways with WDTN-TV Channel 2 after nearly five years at the station.

Kingsfield told the Dayton Daily News that she was “abruptly” let go on Thursday and was not given a reason for her termination.

WDTN officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

Kingsfield said she will miss her connection to area viewers, and feeling like she could make a difference in the community through her news stories. “I think I can still do that, just in a different capacity,” she said.

Kingsfield plans to pursue new career options in the areas of corporate communications and marketing.

A St. Louis native, Kingsfield served as anchor of WDTN’s 5, 5:30 and 11 p.m. weekday newscasts. She also anchored the 10 p.m. news program on WBDT-TV, Dayton’s CW.

Kingsfield became a WDTN news anchor in October 2007, six months after she resigned from a similar role at WKEF-TV Channel 22 and WRGT-TV Channel 45. She had spent nearly eight years as a news anchor for WKEF and WRGT.

Kingsfield is a board member at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In 2005, she fought non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma while pregnant with her second child.
