Jamestown officer hurt in wreck, treated at hospital

JAMESTOWN, Greene County — The Ohio State Patrol is investigating a traffic accident involving a police officer that occurred when a tractor trailer reportedly ran a red light.

The Jamestown officer, Virginia E. King, 40, was taken to Greene Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released, the patrol said.

The accident occurred around 2:10 p.m. when truck driver Ryan K. Hughes, 34, of Leesburg, ran a red light at West Washington Street, the patrol said, hitting the right side of the cruiser. He received a ticket for a red light violation.

The police vehicle was not in an emergency response when the accident occurred.
