HARRISON TWP., Montgomery County — On Friday, April 16, Tre B. Hutcherson drove onto the lot of Clem D’s Auto Sales along North Dixie Drive and said he wanted to trade in his red Volkswagen Beetle because he “had to leave town and needed a better car,” said the lot’s owner, Clement Dare, on Thursday.
Dare traded a 2002 Chrysler Sebring with 190,000 miles for the 1999 Beetle, with Hutcherson paying an additional $200.
Later that day, when Hutcherson drove back to the lot to return a dealer’s license’s plate, Dare said he spotted a woman in the car.
The next day, Saturday, Xenia mother Tiffany Tehan was reported missing by her husband, David. Police found her green Ford Explorer abandoned at Indian Riffle Park in Beavercreek with a flat tire and the keys in the ignition.
Miami Beach, Fla., police on Wednesday night spotted Tehan, 31, and Hutcherson, 42, in a car matching the Sebring’s description and bearing an Ohio license plate. Tehan told police she had traveled to Florida with Hutcherson to start a new life.
Police said Tehan and Hutcherson, who also is married, were romantically involved.
Tehan overnight told her family she plans to return to Ohio, and her family told reporters they are prepared to forgive her and help her work through the issues she faces.
Hutcherson, contacted Thursday, declined immediate comment.
