Here are sites where Clark County kids can receive free lunch this summer

Second Harvest food bank is coordinating an effort to make sure no child goes hungry this summer.

Free lunches will be available to children 18-years-old and younger throughout the summer as part of aid from the Summer Food Service Program.

The Summer Food Service Program is a federally-funded, state-administered program. SFSP reimburses program operators who serve free, healthy meals and snack to children and teens, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

In 2018, the SFSP provided more than 1.5 million nutritious meals and snacks to children during the summer when school was not in session.

Food given to children will be donated to locations from the Second Harvest Food Bank of Clark, Champaign and Logan Counties.

“Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability,” a statement from the Second Harvest says.
