Death investigation reported at the Drake Motel in Clark County

2 boys in custody, gun recovered after pedestrian hit in Springfield school lot

UPDATE @ 9:10 p.m.: Two boys are in custody and police recovered a gun in a pedestrian accident at Fulton Elementary that initially was reported to police as a possible attempted robbery.

One of the juveniles was hit by the vehicle in the incident that occurred in the parking lot of the school, in the 600 block of Yellow Springs Street, just after 3 p.m., said Lt. Jeff Williams, Springfield Police Division. That boy, 14, was treated at a hospital and released into police custody.

The other juvenile in custody is believed to be 16, the lieutenant said.

Police are continuing the investigation into what occurred, he said, but they have determined that the incident had nothing to do with the school or any school function that was occurring there.

Lt. Williams said there was no information about the car or the driver. He did say that police recovered a semiautomatic pistol at the scene.
