A power outage at the Greene County fairgrounds is causing a minor setback for some patrons as they prepare for the fair’s opening this weekend.

According to fire officials, the outage is affecting those setting up campers in the venue’s back campground. People with spots reserved in that area are being advised to wait until Friday to move their equipment in. Campers in other areas will not be affected by the outage.

The blaze occurred late Wednesday night when an empty travel trailer went up in flames. The camper’s owner said no one was inside when it caught fire but the unit was destroyed. Fire officials believe the cause was an electrical issue in the travel trailer. The power outage stemmed from some campground wires being burned during the blaze.

The Greene County Fair starts this Sunday. The fire and power outage are not expected to cause any further delays.
