The state agency responded to the home and took readings, which indicated there were dangerously high levels of mercury in the home.
Pierce said there is no risk to the neighborhood. State EPA workers secured the property and the residents are temporarily displaced now as the U.S. EPA has taken over the remediation efforts.
Witnesses tell this newsroom workers were on the property Monday evening hauling items out of the home.
