For the first time in its history, the Clark County Dog Shelter is offered adoptions at the Clark County Fair.

Since the fair began last week, the dog shelter has had 11 dogs adopted at their booth and another 12 adopted back at the shelter, Clark County Dog Warden Sandra Click said.

“We are so overwhelming grateful to the community for the support they continue to offer us,” Click said.

Click said the influx of adoptions has been, “a blessing,” because of how full the shelter has been this summer.

“We are tickled to death to see all these dogs getting adopted,” Click said.

‘Stray of Day,’ dogs of various breeds were available at the fair for a $20 adoption fee which included spay/neuter, updated vaccines, worming, microchip and dog licenses.

The booth also offered the opportunity for current dog owners to register for a dog license for $20.

In addition to adoptions, the shelter’s booth also raised over $900 in donations, Click said.

“We wanted to have this booth to help get our name out there and help people get to know us and know we are different than the Human Society,” Click said. “But it’s been so much more than that. It’s been a winning proposal all the way around for everyone.”
