He said he and 10 others from his company had been at the site all night.
“The footers were put in at 4:30 a.m. with the use of a concrete pump. We finished at 6 a.m.”
Ernst said once the footer concrete gets hard enough wall panels will be set.
“ Typically that time frame is two or three days later, but we have to do it in three hours.”
That task is accomplished, he explained, with a fast-setting concrete mix.
Builder Rob Arnold got about three hours sleep Saturday night.
“It’s going good, we’re just a couple of hours behind schedule,” he said. “The footers are poured., the walls are being poured right now, framing will start around 12:30 or 1 p.m. “
“For the most part, everybody was pretty excited to be there,” said Arnold about the volunteers who worked round the clock. “We were digging footers, doing excavating, hauling dirt.”
He said the few sprinkles didn’t affect either the work or the spirit.
There’s a 30 percent chance of rain for Sunday.
“It won’t help if it rains,” said Arnold. “But if it does, we’ll just keep pushing through it.”
