Mahindra is the No. 1 tractor sold in the world, based on volume. It provides more than 30 styles of two-and four-wheel tractors ranging from 18-to-83 horsepower. Uses range from multi-acre mowing to hobby farming to medium-sized contractor work.
“I really consider this a complimentary franchise to our trucks,” Thobey said on Thursday. “The ones we have sold so far have been to previous car/truck customers.”
The addition of the Miami Valley’s only Mahindra dealership is a good fit for the rural Miami/Mad River Valley area, he said.
“The tractor dealers that have been in the area have retired or closed,” Thobey said, “so this opportunity just made sense.”
The community’s response “has been very favorable,” said salesman David Brown. “Customers are happy to learn that we’re not just selling Mahindra but servicing and finding parts to service them as well.”
The dealership, located at 580 N. Main St., New Carlisle, is adding a building on-site to house the 20-plus tractors currently on the lot. The dealership offers next day delivery of any ordered tractor, Brown said.
“We have a nice selection and it’s been very well received,” said sales manager Debra Huelsman “We’re very excited about this.”
Mahindra USA is based in Houston, Texas, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of India-based Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. The company began selling tractors in the U.S. in 1994. It has three assembly plants in the U.S., five in India, two in China and one in Australia.
