Dayton trucking firm to relocate to New Carlisle

A Dayton-based trucking firm with about 200 employees in 17 states is relocating its corporate headquarters from Dayton to New Carlisle.

BLS Trucking is currently located at 1749 Stanley Ave., but is outgrowing its current office space and recently purchased a property at 1730 Dalton Drive in New Carlisle, said Scott Foster, owner of the business. Information from the Clark County Auditor’s Office shows the company purchased the site for about $415,000.

The company, which provides lumber deliveries at more than 70 locations throughout the region, has about a dozen employees at its current offices, and they will eventually move to New Carlisle, Foster said. The company has been in business since 1988.

“The building we are currently leasing we are outgrowing, so we bought that building in Park Layne to move our corporate offices into the front half of the building,” Foster said.

Hoya Vision Care is currently leasing the space and will remain in that office until the end of this year. BLS Trucking will then remodel the roughly 9,000-square-foot office and take over the space as early as February or March of next year. Wenco Inc., a commercial construction company, will continue to lease the back portion of the site for three years.

BLS Trucking will keep a small number of trucks at the site but Foster said it will not be a disturbance to neighbors.

“We’ll have a few trucks at our building there but it’s not like we’re going to have constant trucks coming or going or anything like that,” Foster said.

BLS was looking for a building for about six to eight months and the New Carlisle location seemed like a good fit, he said.
