Man suffers serious injuries after being struck by train in Springfield

A man suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a train early Sunday.

The initial call came from the intersection of West Washington and South Center streets, although Springfield officials said that this was just the area where the train came to a stop.

The man’s name was not released. He was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.
