The planned reopening of COSI has been delayed.

The Columbus science museum had planned to reopen to the general public on July 15 but an increase in coronavirus cases in Franklin County caused the postponement.

“COSI has undertaken this action out of concern for the health and safety of its Members, Guests, and Team,” the organization posted on its website.

“The Ohio Public Health Advisory Alert System currently ranks Franklin County as an Alert Level 3, indicating a very high exposure and spread of coronavirus, and the State of Ohio has announced that Franklin County is currently approaching Alert Level 4.”

No new reopening date has been set.

The museum is automatically adjusting membership fees for museum members. It is also offering COSI Connects, a digital path to at-home science discovery, videos and hands-on projects.

COSI closed its building on March 13, just 10 days after it was named the #1 Science Museum in the 2020 USA TODAY 10 Best Readers’ Choice Travel Award contest.
