Clark County retired teachers award scholarships to education students

The Clark County Retired Teachers Association (CCRTA) is awarding $1,000 scholarships to five future teachers, according to a news release from the scholarship committee.

The CCRTA awards these scholarships each year to college and university students preparing to become teachers.

According to the release, the following five students were awarded the scholarships:

  • Abigail Baucant-Fulk was awarded the Heartland Federal Credit Union/CCRTA Scholarship. She graduated from Kenton Ridge High School in 2015 and will be a senior at Wright State University studying Early Childhood Education.
  • Drew Speas was awarded the Wallace and Edna Smith Scholarship. She graduated from the Global Impact STEM Academy in 2018 and will be a junior at Ohio State University studying Music Education.
  • Audri Blackburn was awarded a CCRTA Scholarship. She graduated from Kenton Ridge High School in 2018 and will be a junior at Ohio State University preparing to be an Intervention Specialist.
  • Cheyann Neal was awarded a CCRTA Scholarship. She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 2017 and will be a senior at Wright State University preparing to teach math and social studies.
  • Maria Rinaldi was awarded a CCRTA Scholarship. She graduated from Northeastern High School in 2018 and will be a senior at Miami University studying integrated English language arts.

The scholarships are funded by donations from retired teachers and others from Clark County.

The open period for applying for a scholarship is from Jan. 15 to March 20 each year, the release stated. The application form and requirements can be found on the outreach link of ccrtaohio.com.
