The Browns, who have been Springfield residents for many years, weren’t initially looking to buy a business, but were looking for a new career option that would give Joey more time with their family.
“We’ve been looking for something to let her work fewer hours and no more nights and weekends. ...We want this to become her focus,” David said.
When Love made the decision to sell her nearly decade-old business, she wasn’t in a hurry. She didn’t even advertise her intention.
“It was a God thing,” she said. “I began looking to sell about a year ago and the Lord led me to exactly the right person.”
One day, Love went into Joey’s place of employment and the two started talking. One thing led to another and now the transition has taken place.
“Fate and need brought us together. ...This is great for my family,” Joey said.
The store will continue to operate using the purchasing system Love established when she opened the store.
All items, including children’s clothing, equipment, furniture and toys, are purchased outright; interested seller must have an appointment.
The store’s three part-time employees will remain. “They’ve been great. I wouldn’t have made it without them,” Joey said.
The Browns are working to make the change-over seamless for their customers.
“We know the main reasons we will remain successful,” David said, “is because of the local community and our commitment to quality.”
