Champaign County health board temporarily condemns 8 Urbana apartments

Eight apartments in the Settlers Ridge Apartment complex in Urbana have been temporary condemned.

The Champaign County Board of Health deemed the homes a health concern Monday.

According to Champaign County Health District Commissioner Gabriel Jones, the apartments will be re-evaluated tomorrow in order to determine whether or not they are safe.

The apartments, located at 941 W. State Route 29 in Urbana, suffered damaged on Monday morning after heavy rainfall caused the buildings first floor apartments to take in about 10 inches of water.

Settlers Ridge Apartments front office said they had no comment when asked about the flooding. Wallick Communities, the property company that owns Settlers Ridge Apartments, did not respond to a call for comment about the flooding.
