Catholic Central coach honored after 31 years

Catholic Central High School boys soccer coach Shane Latham was recognized by the school for his 31st year of coaching at the school.

Latham has coached the boys varsity team since 1986 and has compiled a record of 455-107-44. The Irish have had 29 winning seasons and 29 seasons where the team has won 10 or more games under Latham.

Latham has won more games than any other coach in Catholic Central history and has an impressive postseason record that includes Division III State Titles in 2001 and 2007, State Final Four appearances in 1988 and 2010, five Regional runner-up campaigns, 17 Regional appearances, 17 District Titles and 18 Conference Titles.

Four Irish players have received All-American status and Irish players have received All-Ohio recognition on more than 20 occasions. No other Clark County area team in any sport has had as many All-Ohio honorees.

Additionally, several players have received All-Miami Valley, All-Area and All-Conference recognition, including 16 Area Players of the Year.

Latham has been named Area Coach of the Year 12 times, Miami Valley Coach of the Year 18 times and has coached in 14 Miami Valley All-Star games.

In both 1996 and 2007, Latham was named Ohio Private/Parochial Coach of the Year.
