“It’s a key location at the east end of Springfield,” owner Rob Knight said. “We’re hoping things will go well there.”
The new business is just another way for locals to buy antiques. The area has three antique malls, plus monthly antique shows and the open-air Antiques Extravaganza three times a year.
The business should open this fall with at least two full-time employees.
“Our goal is to focus on antiques, being next to Harmony and the Heart of Ohio Antique Center,” said Knight. “There’s a lot of dealers around there.”
Knight, a 1990 North High School grad, grew up working at the Springfield Antiques and Flea Market and the Heart of Ohio Antique Center, owned by his father Bruce Knight.
Rob Knight is currently an apprentice auctioneer at the Gallery of London in Madison County.
Knight also runs Beaver Lake, the seasonal pay fishing lake at 1550 Pumphouse Road in Springfield.
Berner’s Auction, which specializes in antiques and artwork, shares a location with the Heart of Ohio Antique Center, but Berner’s auctions more high-end collectibles. Knight’s business will likely do low- to middle-end antique auctions.
“We’ll probably do some of both,” Knight said.
