2016 Clark County Fair is only one month away

Registration is still open for the open class category.

The 2016 Clark County Fair Book is at the top of local reading lists this time of year.

It is hard to believe that our fair starts in just one month. Dates for the 2016 Clark County Fair are July 22 - 29. The theme is “Sew it, Grow it, Show it.” The fair is held south of Springfield at the fairgrounds on State Route 41 just off I-70.

This is an exciting time of year in our lovely countryside with a variety of FFA and 4H projects and animals well underway.

Luckily there is still time to enter in the open class category but folks will need to act quickly.

Exhibitors must register by June 30 at 4:30 p.m.

Now that deadline has a way of sneaking up on a person so get that registration in as soon as possible. Don’t put this off to the last minutes because it can take a while to fill it out.

That casserole that you have been perfecting won’t become this year’s winner if you don’t get your registration forms in on time and follow the carefully formulated rules.

First step in the process is reading the 2016 Fair Booklet cover to cover. This book is available to read online at the Fair’s website at clarkcoag.com.

If printed reading material is preferred, it can be picked up at most banks, and feed stores. Just call ahead to check before driving over there. These popular booklets have been available since the middle of May and some sites just might not have them anymore.

The fair book describes the process for exhibiting just about anything you choose to exhibit at the fair; antiques, vegetables, jellies, quilts, photographs, canned goods, etc.

The process and rules can be very specific and complicated, so read carefully.

Registration can be done online on a link provided on the fair’s website or by filling out the application found at the end of the fair booklet, and mailing it or dropping it off at the fair office in person. Deadline is June 30 at 4:30 p.m.

Sometimes the online registration has difficulties so be patient, and persistent. Everyone wants to be a part of the fair. Call 937-323-3090 for assistance.

To keep up with the latest Clark County Fair information register for updates on the fair website. The Clark County Fair can also be followed on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.

And, of course, The Springfield News Sun will have daily coverage in print and on our website at www.springfieldnewssun.com.
