Clark County Administrator Position
Fifteen people have applied to become the next Clark County Administrator, including:

Fifteen people have applied to become the next Clark County administrator, including the county health commissioner, according to public records obtained by the Springfield News-Sun.
Clark County commissioners are searching for a replacement for Clark County Administrator Nathan Kennedy, who announced last month he will resign to become the Snohomish County finance director in Washington state.
Commissioners discussed a few candidates during an executive session last week, Board President Rick Lohnes said. They’ll discuss the application further this week before deciding whether to move forward with contracting with a recruiting service, Lohnes said.
The board may also set up an interview schedule and an interview team, he said.
“We have enough candidates now to talk about interviewing,” Lohnes said.
The job was posted on June 26 and will stay posted until it’s filled, according to the county’s website. An advertisement for the job was posted on several websites, Human Resources Director Michelle Noble said.
Noble will serve as the interim county administrator beginning in August until a permanent replacement is hired.
The new county administrator will oversee a general fund budget of more than $42 million and about 340 county employees. Kennedy, the second administrator in the county’s history, earned about $123,000 in salary last year.
The job will pay between $110,000 and $140,000. The administrator serves as both the chief executive officer and the chief budgetary officer. Several departments report to the administrator, including building and grounds, Board of County Commissioners’ clerk and administrative offices, community and economic development, dog warden, information systems, Emergency Management Agency, Department of Job and Family Services, personnel, Solid Waste District and utilities.
Clark County Health Commissioner Charles Patterson, a Shawnee High School and Wright State University graduate who has served in his role since 2000, applied for the position. He was the only local applicant.
“I’ve thrown my name into the hat and we have to wait for the commissioners to make some decisions based on what they’re looking for,” Patterson said. “I don’t know the other applicants, but my qualifications speak for themselves. I don’t have any control here. Wherever God wants to send me, that’s where I’m willing to go. It could be here at the health district where I’ve been for 16 years or it could be somewhere else.”
The other applicants include former Sandusky City Manager Nicole Ard, former Steubenville City Manager Timothy Boland and former Butler Twp. Administrator Kimberly Lapensee.
