Urbana students distribute more than 50,000 meals to the needy

The Urbana High School FFA chapter raised more than $12,000 and partnered with the non-profit Meals Of Hope to distribute 50,000 meals to those in need in Champaign County.

The students met Friday to assemble the 50,000 meals, transforming the Urbana High School gym into a giant production line. More than 100 students helped.

Businesses in Urbana chipped in, too, raising money and standing alongside students Friday in the work lines.

The meals will stay in Champaign County, being distributed to three food banks that serve those in needs.
