New school board member fills open seat in Springboro

The Springboro Board of Education has selected Dr. Darin Lunt to fill the open seat on the board.

Lunt replaces Ron Malone and joins Board President Dave Stuckey, Vice President Charles Anderson and newly elected members Lisa Babb and Jamie Belanger.

His appointment ends a process begun when former Board President Ron Malone resigned from the board on March 2. The resignation came after two months of consensus on the board following a turbulent past.

Lunt is a father of five children and owner of Lunt Orthodontics. He attended public school in Springboro.

“One of the main reasons my family moved to Springboro five years ago was the school system. As we inquired about, visited, and evaluated different communities, Springboro consistently stood out because of the quality and reputation of its schools.” Lunt said in his application

He was among five applicants for the open seat.

“I would like to give back by upholding and building upon this reputation in order to keep our schools great,” he said in the application.

A special meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Springboro Junior High Library for the appointment.
