Officers were dispatched around 2:15 p.m. on June 21 to the 120 block of North Western Avenue on a man that had been shot, according to an affidavit filed in the case.
When police arrived, they made contact with the victim who said the suspect, identified as Chilton, ran south on North Western Avenue after the incident.

“Officers observed broken glass on the porch and what appeared to be a bullet hole in the front door glass,” the affidavit said. “Officers observed a quarter sized wound to (the victim’s) right thigh. The bullet had not made entry into his leg but grazed him and was located on the living room floor.”
Police were told that as an argument was going on outside, both Chilton and the victim exited their houses and began arguing as well, the affidavit said. Chilton became more aggressive and lunged at the victim before going back inside his house for a brief second and coming back outside with a revolver and pointed it at the victim.
“(The victim) advised he knew his two grandchildren were on the porch so he turned and grabbed them to run inside when he heard the first shot and felt something hit his leg,” the affidavit said. “(The victim) advised he attempted to shut the door when he heard a second shot that went through the front door as he and his granddaughter crawled away from the living room.”

Officers were given permission to search Chilton’s house and found a “partially exposed firearm handle” in a bag that was a loaded R.G. Industries .38 Revolver, the affidavit said.
According to the affidavit, warrants were requested for Chilton on the four charges. He was arrested at 6:55 a.m. Thursday morning, according to online jail records.
The next court date in Chilton’s case has not yet been scheduled.
