Police: N.C. man with machete chases clown into woods

A man who spotted a clown near a North Carolina apartment complex chased that person with a machete, police said Tuesday.
The clown was spotted about 10:05 a.m. near the apartments in Greensboro, police spokeswoman Susan Danielsen told Greensboro.com.

A man called 911 to report the clown, and chased the person into the nearby woods with while armed with a machete, Danielsen said. Officers responding to the call could not find the clown.

It's unclear if the clown was male or female, Danielsen said. The clown was wearing a mask,  a yellow dotted shirt, blue pants and had red curly hair, police said.

This is the fourth reported clown sighting within three days in the area. The Winston-Salem Journal reported that a clown with a machete tried to lure a woman into woods late Monday night. Two children reported seeing a clown about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, police said. That clown is accused of trying to lure the children into the woods with the promise of candy.

Another caller reported seeing a clown in Winston-Salem about midnight Sunday.

It's unclear if the clowns are the same person.
