The robber wore a glove on the hand he used to hold a black handgun, but police are hoping he touched anything in the store so they can dust for fingerprints, Springfield Police Detective Dan DeWine told News Center 7’s Jenna Lawson on Wednesday afternoon.
There were two employees on duty and no customers in the business at the time, DeWine said. No one was injured.
Police aren’t saying how much cash the robber took before the employees said he took off running on Lexington Avenue following the encounter DeWine said lasted about 30 seconds.

INITIAL REPORT (Dec. 11)
A gunman wearing a ski mask early Wednesday robbed a Speedway convenience store.
The robbery was reported just after midnight at the business at 405 S. Burnett Road in Springfield.
According to initial reports, the robber who stood about 5-feet-5 inches tall and weighed about 200 pounds covered his face with a black ski mask and was wearing dark clothing.
The robber showed a black, .32-caliber handgun. No injuries were reported.

A robber with a similar description held up a Family Dollar store in Dayton on Tuesday night, but it’s not clear whether the two robberies are connected.
