Coronavirus: Clark, Champaign school district numbers jump over 100 in a week

Thirteen Clark County and five Champaign County school districts reported new cases of COVID-19, according to the Ohio Department of Health’s COVID-19 school district dashboard’s latest update.

In total, 105 students and staff cases were reported between the two counties on Thursday, which is an increase from last week’s 80 cases on Nov. 19.

Springfield City School District reported the highest numbers of cases - 22 total, including 15 students and seven staff. Tecumseh Local School District followed with 19 cases total, including 18 students and one staff.

The remaining school districts reported student, staff cases as follows:

Catholic Central: three student, one staff;

Clark ESC: one staff

Clark-Shawnee: one student, two staff;

Emmanuel Christian Academy: nine student, three staff

GISA: one student,one staff;

Northeastern: eight student

Northwestern: four student, three staff

Southeastern: one staff

Springfield Christian: one student, one staff

Springfield Preparatory: two student

Springfield-Clark County Joint Vocational School: seven students, one staff

Graham Local Schools: five students, one staff

Mechanicsburg: two students, one staff

Triad: two students;

Urbana: two students;

West Liberty-Salem: one student

Several school districts have adjusted their learning options to offer hybrid learning for students that previously chose in-person learning.

Cases reported on the dashboard lag one week, meaning cases reported on Thursday were from the week of Nov. 17-23.

The dashboard tracks cases of COVID-19 in all public and private K-12 schools across the state. Data displayed on the board includes all student and staff cases broken into two categories: new and cumulative. The board is updated each Thursday.
