Lt. Brian Aller, commander of the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, said Gabriel Oliver went across the rural road to retrieve the mail. The boy who was home schooled was hit as he returned to his home, the lieutenant said.
“The child was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Aller said.
The driver of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer immediately stopped following the crash.
“We’re here doing a full investigation,” Aller said.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
