Widespread rainfall today brought record-breaking totals across the area, breaking records set over 100 years ago in Dayton and Columbus and a little less than 50 years ago in Cincinnati.

In Dayton, the previous record was 0.95 inches of rain that fell in 1910. Today, as of 5 p.m. 1.22 inches had fallen.

In Columbus, 1.14 inches of rain fell as of 5 p.m., breaking the previous record, also set in 1910, of 0.74 inches.

In Cincinnati, the previous record was set in 1976, when 1.02 inches of rain fell. Today, by 5 p.m., 1.62 inches of rain had fallen.

More rain is expected to fall this evening, which could push totals up.
