Trout-stocking begins Friday

Starting with the introduction of about 2,000 rainbow trout into Adams Lake in Adams County, this year’s area trout stocking program will get under way on Friday.

More than 80,700 will be stocked in 48 lakes and ponds across the state.

The trout, each measuring 10-to-13 inches, like to bite on waxworms, small spinners, prepared trout baits and corn. There is a daily bag limit of five.

Some locations use the trout stocking to promote youth fishing. In southwest Ohio, Rocky Fork State Park in Highland County and Stonelick State Park in Clermont County have restricted hours for youth fishing only on the stocking days.

March 18: Adams Lake in Adams County, 2,000 fish.
