C.J. Brown Reservoir: Anglers have been dragging nightcrawler harnesses over the humps to catch walleyes. Crappies have been hitting minnows and waxworms around the marina and in front of the Visitors Center. Bluegills have been caught on waxworms and redworms around the fish attractors near the ramp.
Acton Lake: Bass fishing has been good early and late using top-water crankbaits, mostly in shallow water â 3 to 4 feet deep. Crappies have been hitting minnows fished in about eight feet of water. Also try jigs with pumpkinseed or black-green-green skirts.
Grand Lake St. Marys: Good crappie fishing has been reported from anglers fishing in the channels around brush. Small jigs and minnows fished about a foot deep should produce results. Bluegills have been hitting jigs and waxworms around docks. For catfish, use cut bait, chubs or nightcrawlers.
Lake Loramie: Saugeye fishing has been good around the Luthman Road Bridge. Anglers are jigging or tightlining with bass minnows. Crappies are scattered. Bluegills are hanging out in the brushpiles, hitting waxworms and redworms.
Cowan Lake: Crappie fishing has been good. Try fishing the drop-off in front of the marina with minnows. A number of crappies have also been caught off of the north shore, near the campground. Bluegills are hitting waxworms all over the lake, around brush and stumps.
Rocky Fork Lake: Good bass fishing has been reported in 3-6 feet of water. Spinners and green/pumpkin worms have worked best. Crappies are deep â 16 to 22 feet, mostly hitting minnows. A number of yellow perch have been caught by fishing redworms, minnows or pieces of nightcrawler on the bottom between the island and the beach. Bluegills have been hitting waxworms in the coves.
Paint Creek Lake: Crappies are starting to hit, but most have been small. Look for wood and fish with minnows or black/chartreuse jigs. Bass have been hitting crankbaits fished close to the channel banks about 5 feet deep. A few saugeyes have been caught around the island on Shad-raps and lead-head jigs with chartreuse twisters.
Lake Erie: Yellow perch fishing has been very good around the gravel pit west of West Sister Island, the Toledo water intake, around Niagara Reef, west of Green Island and Rattlesnake Island, east of Kelleys Island, around Catawba and off of Cedar Point.
Smallmouth Bass fishing has been good off of the western basin reefs, Middle Bass Island, North Bass Island, and Kelleys Island Shoal. Walleye fishing has been slow except between Ruggles Reef and Vermilion in 30 to 40 feet of water.
