Lake Loramie: Catfish have been biting all over the lake on nightcrawlers, cut shad, shrimp and chicken liver. Bass fishing has been good with spinners and chartreuse plastics worked around wood. Bluegills have been hitting in brushy areas about 2-3 feet deep. A few saugeyes have been picked up by bass fishermen.
Indian Lake: Most of the action has been for catfish on just about any kind of bait. Cut shad, nightcrawlers and crawdads have been working well. Several perch have been caught in the Moundwood channel. Use a piece of nightcrawler and fish on the bottom.
Grand Lake St. Marys: It’s all catfish. Nobody seems to be fishing for other species. And even catfishing is not taking place in areas where there are blue/green algae. The best places to fish for catfish are open lake areas, around the oil derrick and off of rocks. Cut shad and nightcrawlers have been the best baits.
C.J. Brown Reservoir: Anglers have been trolling with Hot-N-Tots and crawler harnesses over the humps and old road bed to catch walleyes. Some nice bluegills have been caught at the marina in 6-10 feet of water. Catfish are biting everywhere on cut shad and nightcrawlers.
Paint Creek Lake: Bass fishing has been good early and late with most of the action being topwater. Crappies are deep and most have been small. For white bass, watch for the jumps and fish with a Roostertail or Mepps. Catfish are biting in the lake and spillway on cut shad, chicken liver and nightcrawlers.
Rocky Fork Lake: Anglers are fishing around weedbeds for saugeyes. Some are trolling crawler harnesses along the edge of the beds, while others are drop fishing right in the weeds with minnows or nightcrawlers tipped on a twister. Catfish are hitting all over with the best chance to catch a shovelhead in Kelley’s Cove or the south beach on chubs. Channel cats have been hitting cut shad and nightcrawlers all over the lake. Work the wood with chartreuse spinners to catch bass.
Lake Erie: The area northwest of West Sister Island seems to be producing the most walleyes. Anglers are drifting with bottom bouncers or casting on windy days with choppy water or trolling on days with calm conditions. Other good spots have been west of Green Island and off of the monument on South Bass Island. The best perch spots have been off of Marblehead and east of Kelleys Island.
