Grand Lake St. Marys: Crappies are being caught in the deeper channels around brush, boatlifts and from under pontoons. Use a small jig or a minnow. Bluegills are around docks and seawalls, hitting waxworms and redworms. Catfish are still biting on nightcrawlers and cut shad all over the lake. Anglers are catching walleyes in the spillway on twisters. A few walleyes have been caught by trolling small crankbaits on the western end of the lake.
C.J. Brown Reservoir: Walleye fishing has been good. Anglers have been looking for schools of shad and tossing a shad-like crankbait. Jigging over the humps and old roadbed has also produced walleyes. Try nightcrawlers, large minnows or leeches and work the deepest areas. Crappies are in deep holes. Look for structure and fish with minnows. Bluegills are about 8 feet deep around brush and fish attractors.
Paint Creek Lake: Spillway fishing has been excellent for catfish. Use nightcrawlers or chicken liver. Plenty of crappies are still being caught on the main lake, although many are small. Fish 5-8 feet deep around wood with minnows or small jigs. Bass have been hitting green pumpkin Trick Worms. White bass have been hitting shiny spinners and spoons. Look for jumps.
Rocky Fork: Bass fishing continues to be good. Work the stumps and rocks with small crankbaits and plastics, 5-8 feet deep. Crappies are very deep. Look for structure and fish with minnows. White bass fishing has been excellent. Use inline spinners and look for the jumps. Bluegills are in the coves around brush.
Lake Loramie: Catfish are being caught all over the lake. Nightcrawlers and shrimp have been the top baits. The best bass fishing has been early and late. Try tossing crankbaits, spinners or topwater. During the day, work the wood with plastics. Bluegills are on the rocky shorelines.
Lake Erie: Walleyes are being caught in the Western Basin, but anglers have to work for them. Trolling will put the most fish in your boat. The best reports came from the Camp Perry reef complex, including the eastern buoys of the range, and northwest of Gull Island Shoal near the Canadian border. Yellow perch fishing was good over the past week. The best areas have been around the Toledo water intake, Lakeside, and the southeast corner of the Kelleys Island.
