Just to clarify the comment about teachers from the UAW worker. Teachers get a set contract amount which is divided over 26 paychecks. They do not get paid for vacations. They get paid for working 8- to 12-hour hour days, trying to educate children who have not, in some cases, been taught at home the value and responsibility of a free education.
To the UAW person who wants to join the teachers' union: Each year, teachers sign contracts for approximately 180 days of instruction. This is what their salaries are based on. There are no paid vacations. Ask your local board of education to get the facts straight.
