Are you planning to buy gift cards this holiday season? Why not get discounts on gas while purchasing your gifts? Kroger offers 2x fuel points on the purchase of gift cards. Typically, if you spend $50 you get 50 fuel points at Kroger, but when you purchase gift cards your fuel points are doubled. So, for a $50 gift card you get 100 fuel points.
In general, for every 100 points you get, you can get $0.10 off at the fuel pump. Points are good through the end of the following month. So, for a $50 gift card, you will get $0.10 off at the gas pump. There is a maximum of 35 gallons of fuel per vehicle, per purchase. What a great way to save while buying gifts, especially with all the holiday traveling!
Understanding the coupon jargon
To a new couponer, the jargon used may seem like a foreign language.
To help make your couponing ventures easier to understand, here are some commonly used couponing abbreviations.
BOGO: Buy One Get One — This is usually followed by free or half off.
ECB: Extra Care Bucks — Vouchers printed with your receipt that act as money toward your next purchase at CVS.
MIR: Mail-in rebate — These are items that you pay for at the register, but mail in a rebate form or a barcode to receive money back.
PG: Procter & Gamble — One of the three types of coupon inserts you will find in your Sunday newspaper.
RP: Red Plum — The second type of coupon insert you may find in your Sunday newspaper.
RR: Register Rewards — Vouchers printed with your receipt that act as money toward your next purchase at Walgreens.
SS: Smart Source — This is the third type of coupon insert you may find in your Sunday newspaper.
WYB: When You Buy — For when you need to purchase multiple items to get a bigger savings.
