WORTH THE DRIVE: Crank up the summer fun with Cedar Point’s nighttime beach party

Cedar Point Nights, the after-dark summertime activities at the famous amusement park, kick off tonight.

Running July 12 through Aug. 18, watch the sandy beach of Lake Erie turn into a glow-in-the-dark nighttime party. Enjoy activities like limbo, inflatables or volleyball, and dance the night away to live music and DJ’s. Or, you can simply lay back and relax with fire pits and lounge chairs by the beach.

New this year is the Lakeside Beach Music Festival, which will feature a variety of musical performances from local bands on the Lakeside Stage. Each night will end with a Beach Bash playing beach party anthems. Stilt walkers, clowns and characters dressed in LED costumes also will line the beach boardwalk, offering entertainment for all ages. Plenty of kids’ activities will also be available, like a seashell sand dig and glow face painting.

When the party people get hungry, late night food items will be available at Surf’s Up Food Fest, located near the Lakeside Stage and along the beach and boardwalk. Perch tacos, jerk chicken pitas, custom hot dog creations, grilled pineapple-on-a-stick, ice cream novelties and blueberry crumb dessert will be served up fresh, grilled on the beach or from the Cedar Point Food Truck.

Schedules for bands and activities vary, and can be found here.
