Matthew Moore will once again open the High Street United Methodist Church’s Sanctuary Series season.

“John’s Gospel: So That You May Believe” is a 45-minute performance portraying the life of Jesus including his teachings, miracles, crucifixion and resurrection. The performance will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at High Street United Methodist Church.

The performance will be from Moore’s Lamp & Light Productions, which specializes in helping audiences see, hear and experience biblical stories in a dynamic and different way. Moore also presented productions on “The Apostle Paul” and “King David” for the Sanctuary Series.

“I love stories — reading them, writing them and especially telling them,” Moore said.

Moore is a multitalented artist who performs throughout the area, most recently as Tevye in the 2015 production of “Fiddler on the Roof” for the Springfield Arts Council’s Summer Arts Festival.

He is an associate professor of theater at Cedarville University.

Following the performance, a meet-the-artist reception will be in the church commons.
