The light show, which will be located behind the Eiffel Tower near the pathway to the park’s Coney Island area, will feature a variety of displays starring Snoopy and the Peanuts gang, according to Don Helbig, park spokesman.
The Peanuts characters became the central theme of the park’s children’s area this spring. Parts of the show will have musical accompaniment and light up in time to the music.
“This is an entirely new venture for the park to add something extra for the evening hours,” Helbig said.
Kings Island’s signature Eiffel Tower, a one-third scale landmark of the Paris tower, will have lights on the back, Helbig said. The light show will be large enough that it will be viewable from the top of the Eiffel Tower as well as certain points along the Diamondback, Beast and other rollercoasters.
“Guests can take as long as they want to enjoy the show and really take it all in,” Helbig said.
Kings Island will still finish each evening with its traditional fireworks show, which is also viewable from the Eiffel Tower.
The show was custom-designed for Kings Island by the award-winning RWS and Associates from New York City.
Helbig said the show was designed using a mixture of low energy and high efficiency LED lighting.
