Navistar sees strong Q3, expects growth to continue

Navistar executives reported a strong third quarter, and said they expect heavy demand to continue into next year as trucking companies replace aging fleets and continue to see freight demand rise.

“We think the market will remain strong in the fourth quarter and into 2019,” said Troy Clarke, Navistar’s president and CEO in a conference call with investors this morning.

The company reported net income of $170 million in the third quarter this year, compared to $37 million during the same period last year.

Navistar is a significant employer in Clark County. Workers at Navistar’s Springfield facility produce medium, severe service and heavy duty commercial trucks, as well as the GM cutaway van on a separate line.
