A difficult decision

The Stock Group, the company which operates the Wendy’s locations in Springfield, announced it decided to close the location at 2040 S. Limestone St. after lengthy consideration. Company director Sharon Wilkoski said while they appreciated the traffic at the location, the closing was strictly a business decision. The restaurant will close effective Jan. 14.

More investments in the community

Wilkoski said the company has made a lot of investments in the community regarding their other Wendy’s locations. A new Wendy’s was recently opened at the Love’s Travel Stop, located at the I-70/Ohio 41 Interchange, and the former location on West North Street was moved to a new building on West Columbia Street.

No jobs lost

The Stock Group said it plans to offer positions at other Springfield location to the displaced workers, so they do not expect any job losses. There are four other area Wendy’s locations, including the North Limestone Street location, the West Columbia Street location, the Love’s Travel Stop and the East Main Street location.
