UD conference looks at cyberspace laws

Legally tracking digital footprints is among the topics to be discussed June 8 at a University of Dayton School of Law conference about recent developments in computer and cyberspace laws.

“iDectective: Tracking Digital Footprints in the Litigation of Tomorrow” will explore how modern cyber sleuths follow people’s trails in digital environments, and how that evidence translates to the courtroom.

The UD School of Law’s annual conference, “Significant Development in Intellectual Property Law of Computers and Cyberspace,” also will address topics that include communicating privacy policies to users in multiple jurisdictions, negotiating contracts and navigating the America Invents Act.

The conference will be held 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Keller Hall on campus. The cost is $395. Scholarships are available for full-time judges, government employees and students. Participants are eligible for six hours of continuing legal education credit in Ohio, Indiana or Kentucky. For more information or to register, contact Nan Holler-Potter at (937) 229-4676.
