Want to vote on marijuana, local issues? Voter registration deadline is Today

The deadline to register to vote in the November 3,  General Election is Monday, Oct. 5.

This year's election is dominated by State Issue 3 which could legalize marijuana for recreational and medical use in the state and State Issue 2 which would outlaw monopolies in the Ohio Constitution.

Issue 2 is a direct response to Issue 3. Also on the ballot is State Issue 1 which would drastically change how Ohio's state House and Senate lines are drawn.

Also on the ballot are hundreds of city council, mayor, township and school board races. There's also county, local and school issues on the ballot.

Important dates to remember for this election are outlined below.

Register to Vote/Update Your Address

The deadline to register to vote in the November 3, 2015 General Election is October 5th (30 days before the election). Voter registration forms are available at MyOhioVote.com. Voters who need to update their address also have until October 5th, and can use the Online Change of Address System available at MyOhioVote.com.

Military & Overseas Voting

Ballots for military and overseas voters became available on September 19th. Military voters who have not yet registered to vote or submitted a request for an absentee ballot may still do so by visiting OhioMilitaryVotes.com or OhioVoterPassport.com for overseas voters. There they can download the Federal Post Card Application, register to vote and request an absentee ballot, read through frequently asked questions, track the status of their mailed ballot and sign up for election reminders via email and social media. All voters can also contact their county board of elections directly for more information.

Absentee Voting by Mail and In-Person

Ohio voters may begin casting absentee ballots on October 6, 2015 (first day after the close of registration) in-person and by mail. For more information, visit MyOhioVote.com.
