Two Dayton Flyers recruits nominated for All-America game

Davis, Wright each among six nominees from their home states.

Two members of the Dayton Flyers’ 2017 recruiting class were among the players nominated for the McDonald’s All-America Game on Tuesday.

Jordan Davis, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Irmo, S.C., is one of six players from South Carolina on the list. McKinley Wright, a 6-0 point guard from Champlin Park, Minn., is one of six players from Minnesota being considered.

The 40th McDonald’s All-America Game will be held March 29 at the United Center in Chicago. The final roster will be unveiled at 9:30 p.m. Sunday on ESPNU.

Dayton has signed four players for 2017 and has one scholarship open. Here’s an update on the four players are doing during their senior years.

• Davis: Dutch Fork High School is 10-4. Davis became the school's all-time leading scorer (1,507 points) with 20 points on Jan. 3. He's averaging 20.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists per game and 2.1 steals per game.

• Wright: Champlin Park High School is 8-0. Wright averages 22.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 2.9 steals per game.

• Jordan Pierce, 7-0 center from Union Catholic High School in Scotch Plains, N.J.: The Vikings are 4-4. Through seven games, Pierce was averaging 12.3 points.

• Nahziah Carter, a 6-6 forward from Bishop Kearney High School in Rochester, N.Y.: The Kings are 7-2. Carter averages 17.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
